Passover

Passover begins at sundown on Monday night (March 29th). This will be the second time I have celebrated Passover, and I must say that I approached the season warily this year. I mostly felt overwhelmed and confused. (What constitutes chametz anyway?) I even felt like either giving up completely, or preparing just minimally.

But, something happened within the past week. I think it may have been the invitation to Pesach (Passover) dinner that turned things around for me. It got me thinking about the deeper meanings of the season, aside from just getting rid of all my leavened/fermented foods. I began to think that, yes, following the letter of the law is important. But, it's also important to celebrate this holiday joyously with friends and family. The dinner invitation gave me to the boost I needed to prepare happily for Pesach.

And although I'm not completely giving up on ridding our apartment of our chametz, I've also decided not to berate myself if it doesn't get accomplished perfectly. (Because I know it won't.)

If you celebrate Passover, I wish you a happy one! If you are wondering what it's all about, here are a few places you can check out:

Indeed - you are right... as my husband is VERY fond of reminding me...

it is our Fathers express 'command' that we come before Him and 'enjoy' His Festivals...

surely you would not wish to disappoint!

'Enjoy' your Passover dinner and be blessed ((xx))

ohh ps ... dont forget to rest and take it easy too... (also 'another' variation of 'enjoy')

I'm taking a moment right now to blog, but yes, I, am preparing for tonight as well. I'm trying to find "rest" as Ahavah-Shim'on, says, but I'm a little frazzled to be honest. This will be our 10th year, and you'd think it'd be easier. I still have so much to do before sunset.

Blessings!

Happy Passover, Robyn! I hope that is the right "well wish". I think I mentioned, Isaiah is in a hebrew school - simply because its the best education in our neighborhood. We celebrated our first Seder on Friday with his classmates. Thanks for the links! Although we haven't converted - I want to be educated about this amazing religion he has been learning about.

This is also our second year. I did not prepare ahead of time and rid the house of chametz, but I remind myself that this is a process. I'll do better next year.

We accepted the Seder invitation of some total strangers and were completely blessed by it (I blogged about it).

I pray you were able to find some joy!

Blessings!

I completely understand...in fact, this is our first year celebrating Passover. We didn't go completely chametz free this year and our table will not be ideal, but it is going to take a learning curve for me- time for growth. Happy Passover!!!
