Hello, My name is...

So it should come as no surprise that I'm obsessing over baby names. My little girl will be here before I know it, and we still haven't picked that awesomely perfect name for her. I want her name to mean something. But I also want it to be pretty. And I don't want her to be one of six girls in her kindergarten classroom with the same name. So many factors, no wonder my head is spinning!

Anyway, I'm curious--if you have kids, how did you choose their names? Or, what is the story behind your own name? Tell me! Tell me!

P.S. Here's a fun video on the topic.

That was too funny! I haven't thought about baby names in a long time. Our children's names are all Gaelic. Not on purpose mind you. That's just how it worked out. I picked the first names and my hubby picked the middle names, but they had to work together. And we wanted unusual. Our oldest is Elora Elizabeth, our middle child is Sianna Phoenix, and the baby is Rowan Drake. Funny thing is the first names can all be translated from Hebrew also.

Oooh, I love Gaelic names AND Hebrew names. :)

We both knew that we wanted biblical/hebrew names, so I searched a ton of those baby name websites until we found some that we liked, and then we just mixed and matched to find a first and middle that we liked.

Our daughter is Isabella Naomi, and if she had been a boy, he would have been Noah Michael.

I just always LOVED the name Isaiah. I don't remember where I heard it. Ever since I was a kid - whether it was playing Oregon Trail or The Sims, someone's name had to be Isaiah lol. His full name is Isaiah Julian. I loved the name Julian forever as well - I actually heard it for the first time on A Different World. Remember Whitley's boyfriend? lol. Our new son will be Wesley Lucas. Wesley was my brother's middle name and Lucas means bringer of light. When I found out I was pregnant my whole family was in a very dark place. It brought a smile to everyones face. He truly is light.

So far it's 3 for 3 with the Hebrew names!

Lovely names, all, by the way. :)

I don't use my children's real names on my blog, so I hesitate to list them here because they somewhat "unique" and unfortunately memorable, so I'll email you.

I will say that my youngest daughter had she been born a male, would have been named Judah.

@Dina: I look forward to hearing from you! Btw, my husband and I both like the name Judah, but we probably won't ever use it (as a first name anyway), because it just doesn't sound right with our last name. :)

Actually, my whole family was in for naming me, which means i got 3 names on my passport - one from my mom, one from my dad, and one from my aunt and my cousin :)

my daughter's names mean 'beautiful' or 'precious' because she is, and at her birth we gave her a second name, Aurélie, the golden one, because she had/has golden hair; surprising it was, as i have black hair and slightly tanned skin... as for my son, i had to stay in bed 6 months of the pregnancy lest i lost him, so his names mean "God has given" and "God will deliver".

@Yasmeen: Thanks for participating! I love the stories behind your children's names.

On an unrelated note, I have been *loving* your recent blog posts. Please keep it up! :)
