Twenty-Eight Weeks

>> Friday, June 18, 2010

I did the glucose screening this morning. The glucose drink tasted like a super-sweet, flat (orange) soda. Not extremely bad. But still, I felt a little nauseous (and dizzy) after chugging it within the five-minute time frame. I should get the results in a few days.

On Monday, I have an ultrasound scheduled. During my last ultrasound, they discovered that I had a marginal placenta previa, so they want to make sure that the placenta has moved. I'm thinking it probably has. If it hasn't, the worst-case scenario is that I would have to deliver by Cesarean. But as my doctor said, (who is also pregnant, by the way), unless we find out otherwise, we are going to think that the placenta has moved and everything is fine. So, everything's fine.

I'm still waiting to hear back about the interview I had last week. They are supposed to have a decision by July 2nd. In the meantime, I got another bite--this time regarding a job with the federal govertment that I applied for two months ago. The pros: job security, good benefits, a good department. (I'm interested in immigration law, and this office deals with immigration.) The cons: I would have to move back to the D.C. area, which means my husband would also have to find a job there. And, the cost of living is higher there than where we currently live. And, and, and, I would really miss the ocean.

Twenty-eight weeks: more excitement (third trimester!) and more confusion. I'm totally ready for Shabbat tonight because I need to let my brain (and heart and soul) chill out.

*UPDATE*
I just came back from my ultrasound. Just like the doctor had said, everything is fine. Unfortunately, baby girl would not cooperate with the ultrasound tech, so we didn't have a good look at her girly bits. (Or her face, even.) I'm just going to take it in faith that the last ultrasound was correct, and we won't need to swap all of our pink stuff for blue!

How did I miss this post?!

I'm glad the ultrasound showed that everything is fine, even without seeing her girlie bits.

I hope something works out for you really soon on the job front. I also hope it doesn't require you moving hours away.

@Jessica: I wrote this post on a Friday afternoon. That's probably how you missed it. :) Yes, when they do ultrasounds, they check for the placement of the placenta. Thankfully, mine had migrated to a "normal" place over the past couple of months, so there is nothing to worry about on that front.

Yay. Glad everything is okay with you and baby girl. Can I add a pro to the immigration gig? ME lol. You guys would be closer to me and Richard and we can betroth our children - or have play dates... whatever. Can wait to see what you decide.

@Tiara: Arranging a marriage between our kids? I hadn't thought of it, but hey, we know your soon-to-arrive son is from a good family! :)
